| Competition Give-me-5....Making our walks fun for
children |
 |
| We love to see children enjoying the
countryside with their parents and we have thought hard about what we could
include to provide interest for children as well as adults. We have included
with each walk a Give-me-Five Treasure Hunt. This is a test of observation for
children as they walk the route and we hope that this will reduce the incidence
of "How much further is it now Dad?", that sometimes starts only a few
steps after setting out. |
 |
Whether the clues are photographic, or are objects that need
to be spotted, collected or drawn, they will all
require observational skills. The aim is to stimulate particular
topics interesting enough for the children to investigate them further. |
|
When at least 15 of the walks and
treasure hunt questions are completed, we invite the children to send their
answers to us together with a picture drawn by them (no bigger than A4 size),
entitled 'My Family in the Countryside'.
Three times per year (at the end of April, August and December) until at least
31st December 2003, we will judge the winning entry based on the most correct
answers and best picture. The prize will be a certificate and a Family Days in
the Countryside T-shirt. We will also post a selection of the best pictures on
our children's' Winning Entries page.
Entries are open to children who have not yet attained their thirteenth
birthday. |
