A Visit to Wardour

This walk takes us a little further afield. It is not often that a walk passes two castles within an hour, but this walk does just that. We first pass Old Wardour Castle and then New Wardour Castle. Like many ‘castles’ in England they are not always castles in our historically-imagined sense and that is the case here with New Wardour Castle. However Old Wardour Castle has seen some action, as is obvious from its condition! It is a hexagonal castle, similar to several built around the same time in France, but it is unique in Britain.
